Earlier this month I went down to Long Beach for the weekend to photograph the wedding of Cris and Arina, a couple of wonderful people who found each other from across the world and connected on a mutual love of music. Arina is the singer in a band in Indonesia, and Cris is an engineer/producer/jack of all musical trades. They met through Myspace, when Cris messaged Arina for a CD of her music- instead of the normal message she got from men in the US and Europe, which was usually of the flirtatious variety. She felt like he was different, and that’s what intrigued her.
The day started off with Arina getting her hair and makeup done at a really cool salon in downtown Long Beach- if I lived down there I would definitely have asked the owner if I could do a photo shoot there some time.
Arina wore a traditional Indonesian skirt and a bridal top that she made with a designer friend back home.
Arina and I have the same exact birthday, and studied interior design in college. She found me featured on Junebug Weddings when she was shopping for wedding photographers. We’re both convinced it was meant to be!
The first look.
I’m loving the lensbaby for portraits- it’s difficult to use, but then it gives you this incredibly gorgeous and unique shot like the two below. I’m obsessed with the photo on the left- one of my favorite portrait photos ever. It doesn’t hurt that Arina is so beautiful, and used to getting her photo taken with her band!
They were met at the end of the ceremony by a classic Bentley, and we went down to a cliff overlooking the Trump National Golf Course on the water.
Next, we headed back to downtown Long Beach for dinner at Bliss 525.
We had a chance to go to the beach for the last five minutes before the sun set.
I’m so happy for these two, and thankful that I got to be there to document their day.
